Many of the Sephardic Jews exiled from Spain resettled in greater or lesser numbers in many Arabic-speaking countries, such as Syria and Morocco. In Syria, most eventually intermarried with and assimilated into the larger established community of Arabic-speaking Jews. In North African countries, by contrast, where the Sephardim came to outnumber the pre-existing Mizrahi Jew communities it was some of the latter who assimilated into the more prosperous and prestigious Sephardic communities. In Morocco a distinction remained between the purely Sephardic Gerush Castilia of the Spanish-speaking northern strip and Toshavim (indigenous Jews of North Africa) communities of the interior. Either way, this assimilation, combined with the use of the Sephardic rite, led to the popular designation and conflation of most non-Ashkenazic Jewish communities from the Middle East and North Africa as "Sephardic", whether or not they were descended from Spanish Jews, which is what the terms "Sephardic Jews" and "Sepharadim" properly implied when used in the ethnic as opposed to the religious sense.

Muslims have always took Jewish refugees during conflicts. Important part in history for a lot longer then the so called propagated hatred and animosity.
Sure there are the few evil , manipulating ones who bring distort and corrupt with their efforts. Those people are picked out and are not among the good doers.
Muslims have been saving thousands of Jews for generations and generations. Harboring them among themselves protected as people of the book ( Christians as well)
Historic facts that prove despite a few incidents, overall the Jewish communities strived with Muslims and lived among themselves side by side for hundreds of years.

Islam, Muslims are not enemies of the Jews, Christians or anybody.
Freedom to believe in given in the Quran to others.
"Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to God's will) in Islam. Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). (The Noble Quran, 15:2-3)"
