Grabbed your attention, didn't I? Well, let's consider three things before you just yell back, "No! You Shut Up!"

First, it is reported that Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said "I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of the people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for the accounts). But the companions of the Hellfire were ordered to be taken to the Fire. Then I stood at the gate of the Hellfire and saw that the majority of those who entered it were women." (Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmed)

Second, it is reported that Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said "A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about it being good or not, or if these words have any significance that will raise their ranks in Heaven) and, as a result of this, he will fall down into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

While it is a known fact that women presently and will continue to out-number males in the world’s population, and one can debate that this may be a logical reason that women will out-number men in Hellfire. However, one can also argue the fact that when compared to men, women are more apt to participate in one or many of above stated sins of the tongue once in awhile and in many cases: often.

So, since we as Muslim women have the profound ability to bring the only true joy to this world through our piety, righteousness, and silence; if given the opportunity to talk or not, won’t you just consider shutting up?

This coming from a Muslim Mother addressing a common issue among many women is a relief to hear coming from a Woman who is Muslim.

I agree with her and will offer the same advice to the men as well.

sins of the tongue include but are not limited to:

  • Lying,
  • Exaggerating,
  • Back-biting,
  • Slander,
  • Gossiping,
  • Picking fun at,
  • Ungrateful remarks,
  • Negative talk, anger, and unwarranted disappointment,
  • Whining,
  • Sharing your disapproval of others to everyone except the one involved,

Her list has more then this.

Women are equal to men when Allah is judging, therefor all her righteous deeds and acts will be accounted for.

This very important point is made by her and I recommend it for a good read.

Assalamu Alaykum brother.

To add to your seed... I offer a few hadith which apply to the topic.

The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Modesty and being at a loss for words are two components of true faith, while vulgarity and long-windedness are two components of hypocrisy." [Tirmidhi]

The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Do not speak much without mentioning Alah, for too much speech without mentioning Allah hardens the heart, and the hard hearted are the furthest of all people from Allah Most High." [Tirmidhi]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "It is lying enough for a man to repeat everything he hears." [Sahih Muslim]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "All of a human being's words count against him and not for him, except commanding the right, forbidding the wrong, and the mention of Allah Most High." [Tirmidhi]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever acts to be heard and seen, God will cause his falsity to be heard and seen." [Bukhari, Muslim]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "A person may utter a word he thinks is harmless, which results in his falling the depth of seventy years into Hellfire." [Abu Dawud]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "One can greatly beautify himself with two habits--good manners and lengthy silence." [Abid Dunyia]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "The one who adheres to the lengthy silence (except from that which is good) will be saved on the Day of Judgement." [Tirmidhi]

You've just been owned.

You repeat the same insults.

Why is it you couldn't prove your accusations.

Enough with your off topic remarks, either comment what the post is about or find an article that you can talk about.

Walaikum asalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu sister.

Jaxakallah Khair for writing such a beautiful and inspiring article. The other day I came across another hadith that made me think of your article. I thought I might share it as it could add to your article or another like it.

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Keep away from ill-thinking/suspicions because ill-thinking is the greatest falsehood.” [Sahih Bukhari]

During the Abbasid period one of the scholars in Baghdad was greeted by an acquaintance who said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"

Scholar: "Hold on a minute, before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."

The Man: "Triple Filter Test?"

Scholar: "That's right, before you talk to me about my friend it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

The Man: "No, actually I just heard about it and ..."

Scholar: "All right, so you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?"

The Man: "No, on the contrary..."

Scholar: "So, you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: The filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"

The Man: "No, not really."

Scholar: "Well, if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) asks us: "O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh (meat) of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful." [Quran 49:12]

Let's pass our intended speech through the triple filter test before we madly utter our every thought. And lets subject others to the triple filter test too before we hear any number of damaging things from them.

I would like to quote where I got this hadith and explaination from but there is no direct link to the author. I have a "Daily Hadith" iphone app, which this hadith came from. It's really good. Occasionally you get a hadith that seems suspect, but for the most part they are good, alhamdulilah! If you have an iphone, check it out...

my apologies, I just noticed I have a typo in my last post...

"Jaxakallah Khair" should be, "Jazakallah Khair", obviously. I don't know how I missed that!
